When did we give up thinking because it was too much effort?

When did we give up thinking because it was too much effort?

Today we tend to outsource our minds, relying on ready-made ideas, sold like over-the-counter drugs. Having a thought that is truly our own has become rarer and rarer. This series of works follows the rebellion of a brain that is tired of being a passive cog instead of a maker of ideas. It becomes aware of its condition and decides to escape.

Are we really ready to leave the easy road and start walking on our own again?

  1. Idee

Intuition is no longer a process but a product. The stroke of genius loses its nature as a spontaneous flash and gets sealed in a pharmaceutical blister pack. The work shows glowing pills ready for use: pre-packaged ideas, to be taken as a quick cure at the first symptoms of mental emptiness. The effort of thinking for yourself is gone.

  2. Salto

Refusing its own inertia, the brain decides to run. The work freezes the exact instant of this rebellion: a leap into the void, with a figurative "Fiuuum". It is not just a sound effect. It is the sound of a clean break, the moment the mind leaves the easy road and throws itself toward the unknown.

  3. Perso

The leap out of apathy does not lead to a clear course, only to disorientation. Faced with endless possibilities, the brain short-circuits and ends up in a loop, losing itself and finding itself again. The shape of the work recalls a catchall tray, the everyday dish where we drop our things at night and pick them up in the morning. It is the image of a limbo: freedom without direction can turn into a new, circular prison.

  4. Boddi

To break the vicious circle of being lost, awareness alone is not enough. An idea without matter stays an abstraction, shut away in a drawer. The brain realises that to move through the world it needs a vehicle, a concrete gesture. By taking on a physical body, it finally turns thought into action and takes its first real step.
